Philip Noakes FIPG
Mastering the techniques and tools of his chosen profession, Philip Noakes’ career as a gold and silversmith is exemplified by consistently well designed and executed masterpieces. Trained in the exacting skills of a master craftsman at Sir John Cass College in London, Philip’s knowledge of precious metals and stones, their symbolism and properties, combinations and transformations, has been honed through forty years of commitment to his art and practice.
Ecclesiastical vessels and objects were early commissions for him and along with working with goldsmith Louis Osman in the U.K., Philip’s confidence and experimentation established him as a craftsman of exacting quality, capable of achieving mastery over the primal elements of metal and gem stones.
Philip’s work is underpinned by design and mastery of traditional studio processes. These are the qualities he promotes in his teaching methodology where each piece that is created is an imagined and realised object that is beyond anything else, breathtakingly beautiful.
